I am up at 5am for work because the daytime heat gets really uncomfortable.
Oh, and also for the DA:I trailer, I suppose.
The environments are beautiful, but I dunno why the point I lost my shit is at 1:32. The character vs architecture scale + the trailer music = Flailing me
This…is a wonderful thing to come home from work to. <3
Cone of shame. Called it. :( poor Kenny. #cat #kenny
Frozen won over The Wind Rises?
Apparently most of the judges didn’t even bother watching all of the movies on the list, and the few that didn’t abstain from voting only saw/chose Frozen. Cartoon Brew’s got an article up…
Yup. When my friend showed me that article earlier today I was almost seeing red. Not to rain on Frozen’s parade, but it doesn’t seem like much of a victory when there were only 3 votes in the end…not to mention this is such a snub to all the people who worked so hard on all the other films.
THIS WAS A ONE PIECE MOVIE.THIS IS FROM MAMORU HOSODA, MISTER “SUMMER WARS”, “THE GIRL WHO LEAPT THROUGH TIME”, “WOLF CHILDREN”, AND IT IS THE DARKEST. GODDAMN. THING.
ONE PIECE MOVIE 6: BARON OMATSURI AND THE SECRET ISLAND. IT IS BEAUTIFUL, HEART BREAKING, TERRIFYING, AND INSPIRING ALL AT ONCE.
i see he also directed the samurai champloo op. this does not surprise me in the slightest.
ughhh hosoda is such a huge insp to me ever since frigging digimon, i have to see thiisssss
i cannot stress enough how good this movie is please watch it
it’s my fav op film and one of my fav animated films in general
it fucked me up the first time i saw it i was Not Prepared but i’m so glad i saw it knowing nothing about it going in
it’s an experience to say the least
I love the 6th movie and it’s total departure from the usual One Piece fare (well, it has all the great elements still).
The kakapo is one of the rarest parrots in the world:
It’s the world’s heaviest parrot
It’s possibly the oldest living bird and
It has a subsonic mating boom that can travel several kilometres
*shuffles along a branch*
*bounces along the floor*
i love kakapo
Here is an endangered species for you to reblog and discuss current conservations efforts about, tumblr. There’s less than 150 of this species of bird left on earth, entirely. Breeding efforts are based around food that the females eat, which is kind of a weird fruit that isn’t available year-round or sometimes even annually seasonally. Scientists developed a little machine that they put nest-side to put a blanket over the eggs when the females leave to go eat at night. There weren’t any new eggs or chicks this year though - the second in a row. Here’s hoping for next spring.
You’ve seen the gif of Mark Carwardine getting his head humped by one of these birds, with Stephen Fry commenting - the last time Mark saw one of these birds it was with Douglas Adams for Last Chance to See back in 1990.
Here’s a video of Mr. Adams trying to explain this bird’s particular habits and it’s plight, if you’ve got about 10 minutes to watch him give a very nice talk about it.
and here’s a very nice quality photograph of sirocco (every single remaining kakapo has a name, that is how critical this situation is) on mark’s head ok
now u kno
For all the amazing, endangered and exotic animals I’ve had the privilege of working with over the years - the day I got to hold a young Kakapo was one of the most memorable of them all. <3 I count myself so lucky that work has enabled me the chance to meet one in person.
If Tumblr wants to reblog plights of endangered animals, this is one is very important to me, and hopefully many others. There’s so few left and they are SUCH cool birds. Even if their adorable outward appearance and interesting way of finding a mate doesn’t spark your interest, surely the elated expression on Sirocco’s face while atop Carwardine’s head surely brings a smile to your face! :D
I don’t usually do big text posts here, but I wanted to say something about Tell Tale Games…
It actually makes me quite sad the amount of flak I see Tell Tale Games gets from people getting frustrated with waiting for the next episode of their episodic games. I get that the wait is hard, but I’d rather wait a few months for a good episode, and I’ve always been happy with my season passes for games (‘Tales of Monkey Island’, ‘Walking Dead Season 1’ and ‘The Wolf Among Us’ so far).
Back when I first started getting Tales of Monkey Island from them, it was about a month per episode wait - while not a NEW company by then, it was around that time that they seemed to be more noticed and they are more-or-less focusing on one project at a time (and you could sometimes see the shortcuts, like re-used character models for background/not-so-important NPCs in Monkey Island). As they have extended into more games with more projects under their belt, it’s not surprising that it takes longer for releases - most of all when the quality of the games have gone up (Especially visually - seriously, Walking Dead and Wolf are both stunning art-direction wise!)
I mean, I totally get the wait can be a bit hard at times, but I always use it as an excuse to play other stuff until the next chapter is out. They are episodic games for a reason and I always figured buying a season pass was a way of getting all the episodes cheaper (rather than one at a time) and being available to you the minute it was up on the website/steam/PSN/X-Box live. If the waiting is really that bad, wouldn’t it be just easier to not buy at all until all chapters are released? Usually Steam has a sale on the full version of the game once available anyway.
If anything, my only gripe is how there’s still a lot of pause/lags in the games while the game processes your choices or skips to the next. Really evident for me in Wolf when it gives you a preview of some of your choices from the past episode. This isn’t as bad in the PC versions of the games as it is console (so I hear) but I just generally enjoy playing on my PS3 more (plus, my poor old laptop probably wouldn’t handle the games that well these days, I had issues with Walking Dead and so re-bought it on PS3). It’d be great it they could sort out those issues some more, but I guess it’s also to do with consoles and not just the game as a whole.
I guess I just wanted to step up and say my little bit for the company. They’re working their hardest and producing some damn good games that I am loving. So it kind of sucks that whenever they release a trailer (usually indicating a week before the game’s release) there’s just a lot of negative comments and people demanding it right now. Especially facebook. Boo, facebook. I should learn by now not to read the comments.
ilu, telltale. Thanks for bringing back my beloved Monkey Island and some new stuff for me to delve into!
In the mean time, I shall sit here pining for Episode 3 of ‘Wolf Among Us’ and distracting myself with other games and the reminder that it’s not too long until FFX HD and Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright (so soon! Less than a month to go…)
So I finished Broken Age at Josh’s tonight. Gotta say Vella’s story was the most interesting to me. Might continue this into inks and colours.
